Chris Samuels is in the house

Lets turn aside from Pacman and Vick stories to pay some props to one of the good guys doing a good thing.

Washington Redskins offensive lineman Chris Samuels gave away a house in his native Alabama yesterday. Samuels, working through his foundation, donated the home by way of a drawing to the winner, Brenda Smith.

Samuels is developing a parcel of land in a real estate venture to include 70 homes and a community center. He decided to give away one of the completed homes to someone who was unable to buy it, but had the means to keep it.

"The good Lord blessed me to make it into the NFL and to play there and I've wanted to do something for Alabama," said Samuels, Mobile, AL native. "This is truly a blessing for me."

And it's a blessing for me to tell this story on Mother's Day.

Unfortunately Samuels is an ignorant fuckwit and it's really not that big of an accomplishment for an athlete who makes millions to give things away. His comments on dog fighting show what kind of person he truly is. I'd like to throw him in a room with 60 starving pitbulls and let them have a go at him. Now THAT would be FUN! I'll put it on pay per view and donate the profits to charity. Then you can print that in your blog!

Samuals is an idiot for backing Vick. He is not a good roll model for anyone.

Only an uneducated bottom feeder would back someone who is involved in dog fighting. I would rather be tied in a leather bag with ravenous, rabid ocelots then to back the likes of you. I truly think it is time for the Redskins to recycle your ass.

Chris Samuels attends a Knock Out Abuse dinner. Chris Samuels throws a holiday party for disadvantaged children. Chris Samuels gives away a house. Unfortunately, he also gave away his brain. Samuels' remarks regarding dog fighting diminish whatever accomplishments he has achieved on the field and in his private life.

I have already emailed Clinton Portis on his website and I encourage others to do the same. It's sad that sports figures who have the ability to do so much good often turn it around. I pity Samuels and Portis. Their behavior speaks to much larger issues they have in their personal lives. I hope that fans will reconsider attending any event where these two clowns are scheduled to appear.
I don't expect either of them to read these comments, and even if they did, I don't think they are intelligent enough to understand.

Chris Samuel is a great big fat phony. He showed us his true character. I will never buy anything that lowlife endorses. I may have to switch teams.

OMG are yall serious?
So because someone speaks about dog fighting in a way you don't agree with, they are a bad person. Yes, breeding dogs to fight is wrong, but a) he doesn't do it himself b) more than likely he was caught up in showing support to a friend.

Since when is someones thoughts on pets more important than their actions towards humans. I for one think that this is a great thing he's doing with this housing community and far overshadows anything he ever said about Michael Vick's situation.

Cruelty is cruelty, and dismissing it in any capacity is condoning it. Saying that dog fighting is okay is an ill attempt at trying to desensitize the brutality of it to society.

If he was trying to support a friend he could have simply said "I do not agree with the torture of innocent domesticated animals but do think Vick should have his day in court because I don't know all of the details, etc". Instead what is brought across to the american people through mass media (having great fame brings huge responsibility)is: so what, its just a bunch of dogs who cares.

What tends to be forgotten, and the reason why dogfighting/animal cruelty is a felony in many states is that the torture of animals is how many great deviants of society started out. Torturing animals is how Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and many serial killers started their careers. The torturing of animals is also associated with Domestic abuse and the abuse of children. Not to mention dogfighting rings are associated with illegal gambling, illegal drugs and thats right folks illegal fighting of dogs.

So, cruelty is cruelty and directly associated with how one thinks in general. If one believes that it is okay to torture an animal they will generally find it okay to torture anything that is unable to defend itself.

This is a very serious crime and there is no defense for it. I don't care how many houses one has bought and given away.

Wow. I don't know much about Chris Samuels (except that he's from my hometown of Mobile, AL so I'll support him just because of that)but the insulting comments on this site are pretty pathetic. How many of the people on this site are vegetarians? How many wear leather coats and shoes? How many are perfect in every single way? If you're not perfect how dare you people judge someone so harshly just for supporting a friend. I think breeding dogs to fight is cruel, but injustices to HUMANS go unnoticed every day. Get irate about the way women are treated in many countries around the world, get irate about how children are used in other countries to make the sneakers you're walking around in. Don't waste your self righteous tirades on someone who thought enough of his fellow man to help out another HUMAN in need. It's a sad day when the life of a dog is valued more than that of a human. Get a grip people.
